I bought Lindy Fralin 10% over wound 5’s with cream covers – which dropped without modifications, for my 2000 Mexican Jazz 5 in May 2024. I like the cream coupled with the vintage white and tortoise shell pick guard. The bass has an East J Retro preamp. I have been playing around with the new pickups for a little over a month. Noted Improvements: Increased output – preamp on or off; deeper, solid bass in your face tones; smoother highs; improved articulation compared to stock pickups; super satisfying B string attack and tone; INCREASED OUTPUT. I play with two guitarists and a drummer. My Ampeg PF 500 volume is set at 11:00 and my bass volume knob usually stays about halfway up.So far I have been truly satisfied with my purchase.
