I installed this in a Tele, using what I’m calling the “dual-action single pot Blend & Tone diagram”. It definitely delivers some sounds that are not available without it. Clever circuit, I agree, thanks Derek Harwell! However, what’s not mentioned in the description is that once the Blender (Pull-up) position is engaged, the Tone control option is completely bypassed, and this brighter sound may not be what your amp (or ear) is expecting. Of course this, (minus the Fralin ‘dual action single pot’ control, but instead just a simple ‘Broadcaster Blender’ control pot) is exactly what the ’52 Broadcaster used. Even today there’s some beautiful contemporary Tele players that use and love this simple Broadcaster Blender pot option (I know Rick Holmstrum is one of them). Also, after hanging with this Harwell circuit and Fralin pot setup for a few days, I have to wonder if the ‘Broadcaster Blender’ pot was in Roy’s ’53 ‘Nancy’ Tele? Does anybody know? If you have a Tele (or two) you should probably check this Fralin pot out. Thanks, Lindy.
