These shims saved my bacon A customer brought in a Godin 5th Avenue which was in need of a neck reset. The problem was he had just purchased the guitar used and as-is. So no warranty. On top of that, the customer couldn’t afford a neck reset. With the geometry of the guitar out of whack, the action was high, but the bridge couldn’t be adjusted to compensate enough for the high action (it was nearly bottomed out). To further complicate this problem, even if I were able to adjust the action enough, the pickups for this guitar are Dogear P-90s w/ no height adjustment. The only way to get them to seat lower is to use a thinner set of shims than what the guitar was equipped with at the factory. After dealing with the bridge situation to get the adjustment I needed, it was Lindy Fralin to the rescue. I ordered the shims in all three sizes. With the varying sizes, I could mix and match as necessary to get the pickup height perfect. These little beauties fit the stock P-90s exactly and helped me solve my customer’s problem for a fraction of what it would have cost to do a proper neck reset. They are pricey but well worth it.
